The IAC headquarters location in Washington, DC provides unparalleled advantages for reporting the activities of Congress, lobbying groups (such as AASHTO), and U.S. government agencies (U.S. DOT, FHWA, etc) in their development of policy ideas, proposals, and new legislation.

Utilizing our transportation experience and network of professionals we combine our ability to closely track activities—with our ability to provide prompt, insightful analysis of legislative and policy developments.

Our primary role in this capacity is monitoring transportation reauthorizations, including TEA-21, SAFETEA-LU, and the next reauthorization in 2009. IAC continually tracks this topic beginning with the initial debates, proposals, and hearings.

From 2003 to 2005, IAC closely monitored the reauthorization debates of TEA-21 and provided up-to-date information on the progress of the reauthorization process. And, since SAFETEA-LU was signed into law in August 2005, IAC has led efforts to exhaustively review all aspects of the legislation, with particular focus on funding levels, increased safety spending, ITS, highway spending, including high priority corridors, and innovative finance techniques.

When legislation is available and passed, IAC has provided valuable expertise to quickly synthesize hundreds of pages of comprehensive legislation to provide key aspects. IAC is able to understand and connect the links, nuances, and differences between prior legislation and the U.S. Code.

In addition, IAC attends major events of interest such as Congressional Hearings and the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Commission (“Surface Commission”) meetings.
