Dr. Gifford is the Director of the Master’s Program in Transportation Policy, Operations & Logistics, in addition to other academic appointments, at the George Mason University School of Public Policy. He has written extensively on transportation planning, with his most recent book being Flexible Urban Transportation Systems. He cooperates with various state, federal and international transportation policymakers in the implementation of current ITS programs and policies. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon and a Masters and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of California, Berkeley. He has also taught at the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.
